Why the Sarangchae (사랑채) opened
The house stands on the old road to Seoul, so in the past many passing travellers stopped to rest in the Sarangchae, the guest quarters.
As transport improved and times changed, the Sarangchae lost that role for a long time.
Carrying on the wishes of earlier generations in a way that fits today, it is now open as a cultural space.
Four buildings make up the house
- Anchae안채main inner quarters
- Jungmunchae중문채middle-gate wing
- Sarangchae사랑채guest/men's quarters
- Bakkat-daemunchae바깥대문채outer gate wing
